The Saxyderms
103

The Saxyderms are a Boston area-based saxophone ensemble that performs music spanning jazz, classical, rock, world and contemporary genres, including arrangements and new music by ensemble members.  The 12-member group is (to our knowledge) New England’s largest non-collegiate saxophone ensemble. It was founded in 2006, with roots in college bands at Brown University and Tufts University. The group performs widely across New England with weekly summer evening concerts on Boston Common. The mission of The Saxyderms is to spread the joy of music to as many people as possible, provide outreach and education to young musicians, and to further enrich the cultural and artistic heritage of Boston.

  1. Hello Saxyderms,
My wife and I have seen the group at previous porchfests. We typically host 4 bands, and we have an empty one hour slot. Currently we have the Wicked Pickers, Susan Cattaneo, and my bluegrass/singer-songwriter trio 9lb Hamster on the schedule. It is a garage stage with a pop-tent. We will have a PA system available, but I know you guys bring your own volume 😉 Also, several of our family audience attendees are sax players and/or high school and college band members, so I’m thinking it would be a hoot to have you. We typically make a backyard potluck picnic of it and have fairly good attendance, so you would be invited to that as well. I can send pics from previous years. Let me know if your interested.
    Cheers,

  2. Sorry we will miss you this year. Can you come at another time in August or September? Looking forward to hearing from you. We are having our fence repaired in our back yard so I hesitated to book anything until the project was complete. Hope to hear from you. Have a good gig! Mary
