I started playing guitar at 15, when folk and rock were young, and have been playing, writing and performing ever since. I grew up listening to jazz, folk, classical music and show tunes, all of which have shaped the diversity of my own music.
I had the good fortune during my college years to hear many of the prominent blues musicians of the day and took lessons for a while from Reverend Gary Davis and Brownie McGhee. I was part of various bands of good musical quality, but little fame. I attended Woodstock and remember some of it.
I’ve been one third of Fretbox Trio for the last eight years, along with two excellent musicians half my age. We describe our songs as vocal-centric, blues-inflected pop rock and you can find our three albums on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and other purveyors of fine music.
Recently I’ve been playing original material at Passim and other open mics; I was the feature act at some. In 2018 did a cross country road tour. At Arlington Porchfest I’ll be playing at 64 Grafton Street from 2-4 pm on June 17th. Stop by and listen – hope to see you there.
